This week I spent fifteen hours with Shingo Sato, at the Design Department at Politecnico di Milano; I attended at his TR Cutting School workshop.
Mr Sato is a couture designer specialized in a design technique called Trasformational Reconstruction
This tecnique, created by Mr Sato, works through reconstuction and tranformation of garments; fabric can be transform, can be rotate together to produce new shapes and volumes.
I was immediately fascinated by his approach in designing a pattern, it is an explosion of creativity. A traditional patternmaker can transfer darts , add style lines, but it has limits because drawing a pattern design on paper has less creative possibilities. Shingo Sato’s design process which is also done in 3D gives so much more possibilities to be creative.
Mr Sato shares his work via YouTube too, via numerous video’s
